FACEBOOK LAUNCHES A NEW DASHBOARD CALLED ‘ATTRIBUTION’ FOR MORE IN-DEPTH ANALYTICS

facebook1
Social media marketing is very complex in the way that even though you have all kinds of statistics to measure your progress, it’s still somewhat difficult to get a clear picture of the impact of each and every effort. But, with most of the businesses using social media marketing, the competition is on its peak right now, making it crucial than ever before that you know how your marketing efforts are paying up so that you can adapt your strategies accordingly.
Facebook realizes this and it has now launched an all new dashboard called ‘Facebook Attribution’ which will combine all the data it collects from every one of your Facebook related sources to give you the detailed statistics that a social media marketer needs.
In the post announcing this tool, Facebook said:
“Facebook Attribution helps you measure the impact of your ads across the Facebook family of apps and services and across publishers. For example, using the new data-driven attribution model, you can see how your ads on Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network and Messenger are contributing to incremental business results compared to if you were not running ads. And to gain a better understanding of your audience’s digital journey, you can use cross-device reporting to learn the device your customers engaged with your ads on as well as where they converted.”
This means that Facebook will gather data from all the various sources including Facebook insights, Facebook Pixel, Facebook’s apps (Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram etc.) and even offline user behavior on browsers to give marketers all the data they need. They will get to know the conversion rate of each and every platform which is a very important statistic to measure the success of your marketing efforts.

You will also be able to know the conversion rate due to the ads that you run on Facebook or related platforms. Although it doesn’t cover the in-store conversion i.e. the customers that you get in your stores because of social ads, it still gives a clearer picture of how your ads are performing.

This dashboard is designed to give social media marketers essential and more in-depth statistics about their social media strategies, way more than what you would get from the typical analytics from any social media platform.

FACEBOOK TWEAKS PRIVACY CONTROLS AFTER THE CAMBRIDGE ANALYTICA SCANDAL

facebook-mark-zuckerberg
The whole Cambridge Analytica scandal took and is still taking a toll on Facebook as it should, given that over 50 million Facebook users’ privacy was violated. And Facebook seems to realize that this whole thing could severely damage the network’s reputation. Hence, the formal apology by Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerburg in the paper and also, the latest changes to the platform.
Today, Facebook announced the updates to its privacy and security settings to make it easier for users to control their information.
“We’ve redesigned our entire settings menu on mobile devices from top to bottom to make things easier to find. Instead of having settings spread across nearly 20 different screens, they’re now accessible from a single place.”
The new layout makes it easier for Facebook users to understand exactly what they are sharing with the people in their social circle as well as third party apps. Facebook has also fixed some of the outdated settings to give the users more insight about what they are sharing with connected apps.
This really is a crucial step because after the recent turn of events, people want their privacy to be as protected as possible. Apparently, Facebook has answered Facebook users’ pleas in terms of making the privacy and other settings much easier to find and navigate through.

“People have also told us that information about privacy, security, and ads should be much easier to find. The new Privacy Shortcuts is a menu where you can control your data in just a few taps, with clearer explanations of how our controls work.”
And just to make people feel more secure, Facebook is also introducing its ‘Access Your Information’ feature which will show users all the data Facebook has about them including their likes, comments, posts, messages, friends, followers, groups and all the other things that are part of the Facebook.

“It’s one thing to have a policy explaining what data we collect and use, but it’s even more useful when people see and manage their own information… So we’re introducing Access Your Information – a secure way for people to access and manage their information, such as posts, reactions, comments, and things you’ve searched for.”
Basically, Facebook is showing people that there are no hidden forces attempting to rob them of their privacy and everything is out in the open. There is no ulterior motive behind getting people to use Facebook.
Hopefully, these changes will help Facebook build its users’ trust back so that they can openly connect with their friends and families. Obviously, it can’t undo the deed already done but it has the potential of preventing such things from happening again in the future.

FACEBOOK OFFERS CASH REWARDS FOR REPORTING BUGS IN THIRD-PARTY APPS

facebook mark zuckerberg
Facebook faced a lot of heat because of the Cambridge Analytica scandal that violated millions of Facebook users’ privacy. Since then, Facebook has been making constant efforts to make the platform more secure and authentic.
As a part of those efforts, earlier this year, Facebook launched a Data Abuse Bounty Program, which includes rewarding researchers for reports where “a Facebook platform app collects and transfers people’s data to another party to be sold, stolen, or used for scams or political influence.”
Now, four months after that, it is now being expanded into a Bug Bounty Program which will offer cash rewards starting from at least $500 to researchers who find bugs in a third-party app which involve “improper exposure of Facebook user access tokens.”
Tokens are created when you are logging into an app using your Facebook account. You decide what information the app can access at the time of log in. If those tokens become compromised, your data can be misused and that is what Facebook wants to prevent from happening at all costs.
Once a researcher reports a vulnerability in a third-party app, it goes in for reviewing and if the flaw is confirmed, the platform will then contact the app developer to fix that flaw. Meanwhile, the app will be suspended from Facebook.
As for the cash rewards, $500 is the starting amount and if the issue is more extreme, the reward will increase. If more than one person reports a bug on the same app, the reward will go to the person that reported first. Also, if the researcher doesn’t want the money and would like to donate it to charity, Facebook will double the reward and donate it.
With midterm elections so near, Facebook is pulling out all shots to ensure that the elections run smoothly. This cash reward program is to give researchers an incentive to be more observant and careful so that they notice these vulnerabilities in third party apps.
One thing that Facebook emphasized on was that the report will only be acceptable “if the bug is discovered by passively viewing the data sent to or from your device while using the vulnerable app or website.” You can’t “manipulate any request sent to the app or website from your device, or otherwise interfere with the ordinary functioning of the app or website in connection with submitting your report.”

6 THING YOU SHOULD NEVER DO IN YOUR INSTAGRAM MARKETING

Insatgram1
In today’s economic environment, social media marketing is the best thing that you can do for the success of your brand. The competition level is at its peak and long term survival without social media marketing has become challenging now.
And if you want results from your social media marketing campaigns, Instagram is one of the best social media platforms out there. It’s unique with easy to use features and filters that will enhance the quality of your photos and videos to make them more attractive to your audience.
Also, with cell phones and tablets being the most used devices, it’s important that your content gets viewed the way it should and Instagram helps with that. For example, when you post a picture of any product it usually covers the full screen of the devices which are being used by the followers. Big images help to draw more attention rather than small images.
If you want to stand out among the other competitors in your field of business, including Instagram in your marketing strategy is one of the best things you could do. If your marketing strategies are strong then you can expect to have good results. The success lies in the right strategies and approaches. So a business should be careful about the things and guidelines that must be or must not be followed in its marketing strategies. In this article I will discuss a lot of things that you should never do when using Instagram as your social media marketing platform.

LOW QUALITY CONTENT:

Instagram is primarily an image sharing platform. Short length videos can also be shared using this platform but the main focus of users remains towards images. Therefore quality of the content is highly important using this platform. Small dimension photos, blurred images and low quality videos are the biggest enemy for a brand because these things will never grab attention of audience resulting in low engagement rate. So never share content with inferior quality on Instagram.

NO INTERACTION WITH AUDIENCE:

Followers are the real strength and assets of any business in the world. This asset needs to be safeguarded if you (a business) want to grow and remain competitive. The only way to keep your customers or followers stick to your brand is to ‘make them feel important’. As a brand you must acknowledge that there is absolutely no room of ignorance in business-customer relationship. Lack of contact with the audience is the most important reason of failure. Always try to keep your customers satisfied by responding to their queries in the best possible and quick way.

DON’T SPAM:

The main objective of marketing is to bring your brand in the lime light and create awareness among the audience. Posting sufficient and appropriate content is the key of success in social media marketing. You should never post more than necessary stuff because it can also bother audience and in the worst case they might lose interest in your brand and un-follow you. Your posts must be evenly spread over time and for this you can use dashboards which help to schedule your posts.

OVER/UNDER USE OF HASHTAGS:

The trend of using hashtags in social media marketing is not something that can be ignored. You must use sufficient amount of hashtags in your post’s caption. Here it is important to remember that as a brand must neither go overboard with the hashtags in the posts nor they should be lacking. Don’t copy other’s hashtags and try to create your own unique hashtags.

DON’T FORGET TO REVIEW YOUR STRATEGIES:

Self-review and self-assessment is of utmost importance in the business’s life. In order to remain competitive and successful you must critically review your current strategies. Don’t waste your time on the existing strategies if they are not fruitful. Try to learn from mistakes and don’t hesitate to bring change in marketing strategies whenever needed.

DON’T INVOLVE IN ANY KIND OF CONFLICT:

For a business using social media networks, it’s a common problem to face tolling comments or critics. In order to save your reputation you must avoid any harsh response from your side. Never lose patience over such things because these kinds of incidents bring bad image with them. If you see any negative response from a user, try to sort out the real reason behind it. In case of serious complaints from users, respond in the best possible way. However, if you are facing troll comments then all you need to do is ‘delete them’.

FACEBOOK ROLLS OUT 3D PHOTOS THAT JUMP OUT OF YOUR NEWSFEED

facebook1
Today, Facebook rolled out 3D Facebook photos that use a dual lens smartphone camera to give depth and detail to the image.
“Today we’re starting to roll out 3D photos in both News Feed and VR. 3D photos bring scenes to life with depth and movement.”
These photos can be viewed from any smartphone but to create them, you need a compatible duel lens camera which Facebook needs to give the photos the 3D effect. For now, the feature only works with iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus, X, XS, and XS Max. But, Facebook promises to add other compatible smartphones in the future as well.
It’s very simple to create 3D photos but Facebook offered an in depth tutorial for creating them anyway.
What you need to do is capture a portrait from your duel lens camera and then open Facebook app and start creating a new post. In the post options menu, select ‘3D photo’ and then select the photo you want to enhance from your device. Add a caption if you want, tap post and you’re done.
You can view these photos by tilting the device or swiping the image around just like any 3D photo. For best results, Facebook recommends that you capture photos with the main object around 4 feet away from the camera; have some contrast of colors in the images because then Facebook will be able to create more detail and depth. Also, a little foreground and background will bring the image to life.
The feature was first announced back in May in the F8 conference and it’s finally making an appearance today. For now, Facebook has rolled out the ability to view 3D photos for everyone but the ability to create them will gradually roll out to all the users in the coming weeks.
Facebook has undergone quite a transformation since it first started. First, there were just text posts and photos; then, Facebook expanded them to videos and later, live videos. Now, the 360 images and 3D photos have made an appearance. All of this is to get more and more people on the platform so that Facebook ad revenue keeps getting generated.
